Fire Starters

Tinder cord is a multipurpose paracord that features a flammable interior that can be used in a pinch as a fire starter. Pull back the outer strands to expose the waxed cotton core that can be used to light your camp stove or campfire.

Start with a big, loose handful of tinder right in the middle of your fire area - we recommend SOL Tinder Quick or Fuel Cubes, but any highly flammable material will suffice. Arrange sticks of kindling around the tinder. Create a spark with our Mag Striker, Micro Sparker, matches, or other ignition source and direct ignition toward tinder. Once you get a fire going, continue to feed with kindling until you have steady flames, then add additional wood to get the campfire roaring.

Prior to starting a fire, use your fingernails or a knife to pull apart and fluff the Tinder Quik piece. Place the Tinder Quik in a small pile of brush and ignite Tinder Quik with a match, lighter, flint, or other means of creating fire. Slowly add larger pieces of brush to the fire.
